Well, it looks as if my predictions were mostly dead on. Friday’s estimates are in and it appears Quarantine was on top, ousting that stupid dog from the #1 spot. Quarantine pulled in a strong 5.3mil on Friday alone and will probably finish close to 17mil. The Chihuahua did manage to bring in roughly 4.5mil, which means Saturday will be make-or-break for the dog’s weekend. Body of Lies did better than I expected, pulling in to third place with 4.3mil.
However, as I predicted, The Express, the film no one cared to see, barely snuck in the top ten with 1.5mil. But thus far, the biggest embarrassment had to be City of Ember, which couldn’t even manage a top ten showing, nor over 1mil on Friday.
This is just an update, though, and I’d expect these numbers to at least triple for Sunday’s officials. Something tells me Disney will be sneaky though and do whatever it takes to bump that Chihuahua back into the top spot. We all remember that Tropic Thunder incident…
